Jumpball and Court IQ · Last updated 22 September 2026

In short: coaches keep their team information in a private account that only they and the coaches they add can see. Players are recorded by first name and last initial only. We keep one or two family contact emails per player so the coach can send the team page link, and nothing else about families. We do not sell information, we do not advertise to anyone, and we do not track people across other websites.

1. Who we are

Jumpball and Court IQ are operated by Jumpball (ABN ), based in Queensland, Australia ("Jumpball", "we", "us"). We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) to the extent that Act applies to us, and we follow them as our standard in any case.

Privacy contact: use the contact details on jumpball.com.au.

2. What we collect and why

WhoWhatWhy
Coaches and team managers (account holders: 18+, or 16–17 with a parent or guardian's consent)Sign-in email and password (the password is stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider), chosen display name, optional club, short bio and an opt-in contact flag, date joined and last seen. If you subscribe: your plan and subscription status. Card details go directly to Stripe; we never see or store them.To run your account, sync your data between your devices, show who shared a drill, and manage subscriptions.
Coaches (optional)Accreditation and clearance reminders: the name of a course or clearance (for example Community Coach, Working with Children check, first aid), who issued it and its completion and expiry dates. We do not ask for or store card or certificate numbers. To remind the coach before something expires. Never shared with other coaches, clubs or team pages.
Coaches aged 16 or 17, and their parent or guardianThat the coach is 16 or 17 (no date of birth), and the parent or guardian's name and email, the date they consented and whether consent was withdrawn. To get and record a parent or guardian's consent before the account can be used, and to send them copies of team chat messages.
PlayersFirst name and last initial, jersey number, positions, attendance, skill ratings and the coach's notes. No surnames, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, photos or health information are requested, and coaches are asked not to enter them.So the coach can plan training, record attendance and track development.
Parents and guardians (or players aged 18+)A first name and up to two email addresses per player, given to the coach by the family.Only to send the family the team page link and team information.
People using a team pageThe player name chosen from the squad list, replies to trainings and games (going / maybe / can't, with an optional note), scorer volunteering for games, and messages posted in the team chat. If you turn notifications on, your browser's push address for this device (no name attached) so we can send them; turning them off removes it.So the team knows who is coming and can communicate as a group.
Court IQ usersA first name or nickname and progress, stored only on the device. Messages typed to the AI Coach are sent to our server and passed to Google's Gemini service to generate a reply. We do not store those messages and do not send a name or account with them.To provide the player activities and the AI Coach replies.

We do not use advertising or analytics trackers. The apps store data in your browser (local storage) so they work offline and remember your sign-in; these are functional, not tracking, and cannot be switched off without breaking the app.

3. Children and young people

  • Accounts are for adults, or for coaches aged 16 or 17 with the recorded consent of a parent or guardian, who can withdraw it at any time. Nobody under 16 can hold an account. Players do not create accounts.
  • Copies of team chat messages are emailed to the family contact emails of that team, and to the parent or guardian of any coach aged 16 or 17, so an adult can always see the interaction. A coach can switch the copies off for a team; we recommend leaving them on for junior teams.
  • Information about players is limited to first name and last initial plus coaching records, entered by their coach.
  • For a player under 18, the contact email must belong to a parent or guardian, who provides it to the coach.
  • Team pages are reached by a private link that the coach sends to families. Team chat is group chat only, visible to the whole team including coaches and parents. There is no private one-to-one messaging. Coaches can remove any message.
  • Court IQ asks for a first name or nickname only and keeps progress on the device. The AI Coach is restricted to basketball topics and directs a young person to a trusted adult if they raise anything serious. Parents should supervise younger children's use.

4. Who can see information

  • A coach's teams, players and plans: that coach, and any coach they add to a team. A team manager sees only the schedule.
  • Team page: anyone who has the private link. It shows first names and initials, the schedule, notices, replies and chat. It never shows email addresses or coaching notes.
  • Community library: drills and plans a coach chooses to share are visible to other signed-in coaches, with the name the coach chose. Player information is removed before sharing.
  • Jumpball: our administrator can see the list of coaches using the app (email, name, joined, last seen) and subscription records. Stored data can be accessed for support, security or legal reasons only.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal information, and we do not use it for marketing.

4a. Club and association teams

A club or association can buy Jumpball for its coaches. A coach may link a team to that club (a clear notice is shown when they do), and from then on the team is the club's: the club's named administrators can see and edit everything in it, including players, plans, reviews, replies and chat, and can hand the team to another coach if the coach steps away. This mirrors the club's own responsibility for its members and its child-safety duties. The club is the organisation the information is held for, and it names its administrators. A coach's own drill library, their private notebook and their personal accreditation records are never part of a club team; a coach can choose to share their accreditation status (names and expiry dates only) with their club. Teams a coach runs outside a club are unaffected.

5. Where information is stored, and overseas disclosure

We use these service providers, who process information on our behalf:

  • Supabase – database and sign-in, hosted in Sydney, Australia.
  • Netlify (USA) – hosts the website and runs small server functions. Requests pass through its servers; it does not hold the database.
  • Microsoft 365 – sends team link emails from our mailbox when a coach uses that option (a copy of each is kept in the mailbox's sent items) and sends the chat copies to parents (no copy kept).
  • Stripe (USA and other countries) – payments for subscriptions.
  • Google (Gemini API) (USA and other countries) – generates AI Coach replies in Court IQ from the text of the message only.
  • GitHub (USA) – stores the app's source code, not user data.

Some of these providers are located outside Australia, mainly in the United States. We take reasonable steps to make sure they handle information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

6. Security

All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS). Database rules restrict every record to its owner and the people they have added. Team pages use long random links. Coaches can set a PIN and export encrypted backups. No system is perfectly secure; if a data breach is likely to cause serious harm we will notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

7. How long we keep information

Coach data is kept while the account is open. A coach can delete players, teams or their whole account at any time (More → Delete my account), which removes their cloud data, their shared drills and plans, their team pages and the replies and messages on those pages. Backups held by our database provider roll off within about 30 days. Subscription records are kept for the period required by tax law.

8. Your choices and rights

  • Access and correction: coaches can see, correct and export all their data in the app. Parents and players can ask their coach, or contact us, to see or correct what is held about them.
  • Removal: a family can ask the coach to remove their email at any time; a parent can ask for a child's record, replies or messages to be removed. Contact us if the coach cannot be reached.
  • Anonymity: team pages can be viewed without replying or posting. Court IQ can be used with a nickname.
  • Users outside Australia: if the GDPR, UK GDPR or similar laws apply to you, you also have rights to erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and to complain to your local regulator. Our legal bases are performance of our agreement with the coach, legitimate interests in running team sport, and consent for family contact emails. The services are not directed at children under 13 in the United States.

9. Complaints

Contact us first using the details in section 1 and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

10. Changes

We will post any changes here and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be notified in the app.
